Welcome
Somewhere in a loft, charity shop or house clearance, there is a diary that nobody has opened since the person who wrote it last put it down. It could be a housewife suffering in her marriage, a soldier’s thoughts on the war or a child’s last day at school. Whatever it says, it’s the only copy there will ever be.
Many diaries and notebooks get thrown out. This site finds them, types them up and puts them here for anyone to read for free, forever.
Every entry here is
- Written by hand: transcribed from a real book.
- Anonymised: names, addresses and anything else that could identify someone are removed or changed.
- Free: no advertising of any kind, ever. No accounts or paywall.
- Kept safe: the physical book and a digital copy are kept for good unless a takedown is requested.

Why bother?
Every voice deserves a platform, no matter how small it seems.
History remembers kings, generals and people in charge. The main aim of this website is to record the unheard, everyday people of the past and present. Diaries and notebooks are where they live on. Read the full mission.
